Making a difference in the lives of children and adults with disabilities for over 50 years.

Children’s Clinical Services

In our continuing effort to provide a variety of services to the community we serve, Waban Projects, Inc. is proud to announce that we are offering clinical services for children.

Outpatient therapy provides a safe, non-threatening environment where children and adults can work toward individual goals in one-on-one sessions with a licensed, master’s level therapist.

Children’s Therapy services are designed to help young people cope with internal struggles and emotional problems that are difficult to resolve solely through other forms of intervention. We use an individualized approach that may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, play and art therapy, role play, and other techniques to help work through issues.

Our goal is to empower clients to reach personal and therapeutic goals. This is accomplished through a collaborative approach aimed at helping to develop new ways of thinking; develop coping strategies; identify and manage situations likely to rekindle the problem; and improve interpersonal relations. Working together, we can work through life’s toughest problems to improve quality of life.

Do you feel outpatient counseling would be helpful to your child? Are you a MaineCare recipient? If so, please contact us at 207-324-7955 ext. 676 or by emailing one of the following Waban staff members:

Tiffany Haskell, thaskell@waban.org

Waban played a key role in turning my son’s life around.

“When our Jackson first started at Waban he made minimal to no eye contact, he would not respond to his name, wouldn’t dream of wearing a backpack, and was making no attempt at mimicking words. Jackson now enjoys spelling his name with blocks and playing with numbers. He will try very hard to mimic sounds and has started to make his needs known with a special communication device. To say we will miss Waban is an understatement, but the skills we are taking away from our time here will never be measured. You increased my son’s quality of life in just a few years and for a mother there is no greater gift you could give me than that.”
