Waban’s 46th annual Telethon

The telethon is Waban’s biggest fundraiser event each year. This year is our 46th annual telethon which will be held at the St. Ignatius Gymnasium at 25 Riverside Ave in Sanford Maine from 10am to 6pm on March 18, 2017. There will be live entertainment from The Returnables, Ben Guillemette, Steppin’ Out Dance Center, Eric Andrews Quartet, MECA and many more! Hosted by Kevin Mannix, the Legere Brothers, Dave Stevens, Melissa Hall, Neal Meltzer and Gervaise Flynn. Raffle items include an Old Town canoe, kayak, recliner, drone, iPad mini and a $200 Visa gift card. Gifts include golf at Cape Neddick Country Club, UNH Wildcats tickets, Portland Symphony Orchestra, Portland Sea Dogs, Hackmatack Playhouse, Skydive New England, autographed photo of Malcolm Butler from the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots! All proceeds from the telethon will benefit the new Autism Therapy Wing at the Fraser-Ford Child Development Center in Sanford. For 50 years, Waban has been providing high quality services to children and adults with disabilities. Waban’s Fraser-Ford Child Development Center in Sanford, Maine provides special purpose therapeutic preschool programs in an inclusive environment for children with Autism, Pervasive Developmental Delay (PDD), Down syndrome and other developmental/intellectual disabilities. Over the past 12 years the prevalence of Autism and Development Disabilities has significantly increased. While Waban has a results-driven, evidence-based, and proven clinical approach to addressing the needs of children with Autism, sadly we currently don’t have the space; and are currently operating at capacity. In order to address the increase in demand for services we are planning to build 6,000 square foot addition. With 4 new classrooms, a large multipurpose space, and multiple consulting rooms we will have capacity for Autism-based specialized programming for preschool age and also have the capability of serving K-2 elementary school children. To make the expansion possible Waban has started a $2,000,000 Capital Campaign. We are happy to say that we are half way to our goal but we still need your help to make this possible. Your donation will make a difference in the lives of children with Autism. You can View the telethon on Metrocast channel 12, Tim Warner channel 9 (NH ch 21/22) or listen to the radio simulcast by the Legends 102.3 FM. Call in your pledge on March 18th only at 1207-324-5344 or 1-877-544-4275, or stop in to make your donation live and take part in the activities and see the acts perform. Thank you!
